California Woman Gets Jail for Sex with Boy - Updated

(Redding, California) Jacquelynn Faye Fielding was sentenced yesterday to 180 days in jail, significantly less than the reported possible four years in prison. Fielding was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Fielding, of Marysville, told Shasta County Superior Court Judge Bradley Boeckman on Friday that she feels badly about her behavior, but she stopped short of admitting she had sex with the boy.

Boeckman said Fielding seemed unwilling to accept responsibility.
If Judge Boeckman had cause to mitigate Fielding's sentence, the reason was not reported. In fact, since Fielding is unwilling to accept responsibility for her behavior, it would seem that reason exists to not mitigate her sentence.

In any event, defense attorney Michael Horan said there would be an appeal.

California Woman Guilty of Sex with Boy

(Marysville, California) A 23-year-old local woman, Jacquelynn Faye Fielding, was prosecuted in Shasta County Court for allegedly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Last Thursday, Fielding was convicted by a jury on counts of unlawful sex with a minor under the age of 16, annoying or molesting a child and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to Deputy District Attorney Michael Hemker, the offenses occurred in December 2007.
Fielding met the boy at go-kart racing events in Red Bluff and Chico, he said, adding that they developed a friendship on MySpace.

Many of the Internet communications between the two revolved around sex, Hemker said.

After months of communicating on MySpace, they came up with a plan to meet at a home that belonged to the family of one of the boy’s friends, he said.

While the family was away for Christmas, Fielding and the boy met there and Fielding provided him with alcohol.

They had sex twice there and had also previously had sex at one of the go-kart race tracks in Red Bluff, Hemker said.
Fielding is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29. She faces a possible four years in prison.
