Georgia Babysitter Accused of Killing Baby

(Atlanta, Georgia) A 35-year-old Lawrenceville woman, Latasha Dione Malone, was arrested this week for allegedly killing two-month-old Jayden Jamison who she was babysitting last February 7.

Malone faces charges of felony cruelty to children and murder.
Malone told police she was babysitting the child, who was a relative, when she fell asleep in the same bed with him and her 4-year-old son. Malone said when she woke up her son was cradling Jayden, according to the police report. She told authorities Jayden was a relative.

Arrest warrants show the baby had suffered a fatal skull fracture and brain hemorrhage. Malone told police she tried to perform CPR on Jayden when she realized he was not breathing — an effort paramedics continued on the way to the hospital.
At the time of the infant's death, Malone was out of jail on battery and obstruction charges stemming from an alleged altercation with her 15-year-old daughter. As a result, Malone is under investigation by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.

It's curious that someone would trust Malone, accused of battering her own daughter, to watch children. It seems apparent that she has a problem with self-control.
