27 Years for Love-Triangle Killer Rachel Wade - Updated

(Clearwater, Florida) In the competition for the romantic charms of a young man named Joshua Camacho, 19-year-old Rachel Wade killed her rival, Sarah Ludemann, 18, in a vicious and bloody knife attack.

In July, Rachel Wade, now 20, was convicted of second-degree murder for killing Ludemann. Yesterday, she was sentenced by Pinellas Circuit Judge Joseph Bulone to 27 years in prison.

According to defense attorney Jay Hebert, Wade insisted on a trial so she could take the stand in her own defense.

"I think Rachel right now is somewhat relieved," Hebert said. "At least now she knows and has some direction."

Wade's friends and family members, in an attempt to sway the judge, described her as a decent person, one who once gave her leftovers to a homeless man.

Hebert said that, even while behind bars, Wade might attempt to educate others about the mistakes she made, possibly by posting a YouTube video.

One friend of hers invoked the name of Mahatma Gandhi while describing her plight.

Hey, she gave her leftovers to the homeless! She must be a saint. However, despite her supposed decent character, Wade did herself no favors by reportedly exhibiting a complete lack of remorse over her crime.

In any event, with credit for time served coupled with usual parole procedures, Wade may be able to leave prison after 21 years. It's not known whether Mr. Camacho will be waiting for her when she gets out.

(Pinellas Park, Florida) A 19-year-old woman, Rachel Wade, has been arrested for the alleged stabbing death early Wednesday morning of an 18-year-old Pinellas Park High School student, Sarah Ludemann.

Wade faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Investigators say the stabbing happened around 12:45 a.m. at a home on 52nd Street North. Wade reportedly ran up to Ludemann's van and their argument turned physical.

Wade is accused of stabbing Ludemann in the chest with a kitchen knife and throwing the weapon on a nearby rooftop, where it was recovered by detectives.

Ludemann died later at the Northside Hospital. Sadly, the arguably stupid basis of the fight was an ongoing dispute over a boyfriend named Joshua. Wade and Ludemann reportedly were engaged in a war of words conducted via text messages which escalated to deadly violence.

Wade was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She is being held without bond.
