Massachusetts Woman Accused of Child Rape

(Boston, Massachusetts) A 45-year-old area woman, Linda M. Mayotte, has been accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy.

Mayotte faces charges of statutory child rape, indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Prosecutors said Mayotte, a married mother of three, had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy from February to June 2005. The charges recently came to light when the boy was questioned about a theft. After a two week investigation, police arrested Mayotte at her home where the incidents allegedly occurred.

Prosecutors said Mayotte's two adopted children and a 16-month-old have been placed with the Department of Children and Families.

Mayotte has been booked into custody with bond set at $2,500. A court appearance has been scheduled for July 1.

[Update] Linda Mayotte's husband, Joseph, has also been arrested and faces similar charges as his wife. Joseph Mayotte was booked into custody with bail set at $25,000.
