"Furry" Woman Guilty of Sex Crimes - Updated
[Previous 9/27/09 post]
(Fort Collins, Colorado) A 45-year-old local mom, Richael L. Michels, who liked to dress up as a cat and be called Kitten while boffing the 16-year-old son of a friend, has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sex charges.

In exchange for her plea, felony charges were dropped.
Michels, who is married, now admits to having sex "on multiple occasions" with a 16-year-old boy she took to furry events.

Furries enjoy dressing up as animals, but members have said sex is not routinely part of that fantasy. Michels allegedly dressed as a cat and went by the name "Kitten."

At a hearing Friday, Michels told the judge she is bipolar, taking prescription drugs, seeing a psychiatrist and undertaking other mental health treatment.
Michels is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12 by Larimer County Judge Dave Williams.

Since Michels says she is bipolar and has mental issues plus the fact that she was only convicted of misdemeanors, I suggest that she won't receive any meaningful punishment at sentencing, probably probation and a melodramatic statement from the judge. Meanwhile, I'll also suggest that St. Peter will put a "Rejected" sticker on the afterlife invitations for the prosecutors in the Michels case.

In a related report from Participant Media Service (PMS), 45-year-old local dad, AnyJoe McBlow, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for felony sex crimes. McBlow dressed up as Pigman and regularly engaged in sex with the 16-year-old daughter of a friend. At sentencing, McBlow told the judge that he suffers from schwinnng! disorder.

"Furry" Woman Arrested for Sex with Boy
[Previous 7/2/09 post]
(Fort Collins, Colorado) A 45-year-old local woman, Richael Michels, was arrested last Thursday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy she met during social gatherings where people dress as animals and call themselves "furries."

Michels faces counts of sexual contact to coerce a child, sexual assault on a child ages 15 to 18 by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a pattern of abuse.
The affidavit indicates Michels was friends with the boy's mother, who Michels told police trusted her as a role model for the boy.

A person who helped police in their investigation, whose name is redacted from the affidavit, told police Michels told him the relationship with the boy was ironic because the boy's mom trusted her as a mentor and "the whole time she was having sex with him."

Police began investigating Michels after receiving a tip from the Department of Human Services referencing an allegation of sexual abuse of a child.
When interviewed, the victim admitted to having intercourse with Michels. Michels was booked into custody at the Larimer County Jail with bond set at $35,000.

By the way, furries are a community “known for its friendly hugging, scritching, and holding hands.” Furries network over the Internet and hold conventions. They are encouraged to get a room if the scritching becomes intimate.

Electronic home monitoring is used as an alternative by confining an offender to house arrest.
