Girl Scout Funds Theft

(Scottsdale, Arizona) A 29-year-old Girl Scout troop leader, Trisha Proud, was arrested for embezzling $8,000 in cookie funds being saved for a trip to Disneyland. Proud faces one count of theft.

Police say the money went missing last spring and several parents reported the theft to police last month.

"She had access to the account and had utilized ATM cards and also written checks off the account," said officer Dave Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department.

Proud was booked into custody.
