R.I.P. Common Household Light Bulb, b.1879 - d.2010

General Electric, founded by Thomas Edison, has announced plans to cease manufacturing of common household incandescent light bulbs.

The bulb-assembly factory in Winchester, Virginia, the only remaining GE plant in the U.S. to make the bulbs, will close by July 2010.
