Texas Teacher Gets Probation for Improper Relationship - Updated

(Orange, Texas) With tears streaming down her face, former Bridge City High School teacher Megan Sparks, 26, was sentenced yesterday by 128th District Court Judge Patrick Clark to five years of probation for engaging in an improper relationship with an 18-year-old student.
"He was an adult, she was an adult, and normally it would not be an offense except for the relationship as educator/student" said Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough.
In addition to probation, Sparks must pay a $1,000 fine and have her teaching license revoked in the state of Texas.

By the way, my speculation on this case was accurate.

Texas Teacher Guilty of Naughtiness with Student
[Previous 7/10/09 post]
(Orange, Texas) In April 2008, a 26-year-old teacher at Bridge City High School, Megan Michelle Sparks, was accused of engaging in an improper relationship with a student. Sparks subsequently resigned her teaching position.

Yesterday, Sparks pleaded guilty before Judge Pat Clark in 128th District Court to charges of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

A pre-sentence evaluation has been ordered. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 31 when Sparks faces anything from probation to 10 years in prison.

I suggest that Sparks will get probation.
