(Australia) Plans for the world's largest solar power plant are in doubt since the builder, Solar Systems, has been placed in receivership.
Administrator Stephen Longley of PricewaterhouseCoopers said he hoped to tell employees by the end of the week whether they were still needed.Private investment capital was pulled from the 154MW project and government subsidies stalled while creditors weren't being paid. Apparently, solar power isn't viewed as an alternative energy source which is economically viable.
''We are assessing Solar Systems' operational and financial position with a view to continuing operations on a reduced scale over the next three months in order to provide us with sufficient time to restructure and sell the business as a going concern,'' he said.
