(Jakarta, Indonesia) The mastermind of the Bali bombings and other terror attacks in Indonesia, Noordin M. Top, is reportedly dead, killed during a raid last night in Solo, Central Java.
According to Indonesian National Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri, Noordin's identity was confirmed through fingerprints.
Police stormed a house on the outskirts of the city at around 7:00 a.m. after a nine-hour siege. Solo is a longtime stronghold of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) radical network.I'll confess. News of Top's death pleases me. He was a deadly monster.
Three other terror suspects were killed and three arrested in the raid. Also among the dead is Bagus Budi Pranoto or Urwah, a man wanted by police in connection with the July hotel bombings in Jakarta.
The other two killed in the raid were Hadi Susilo and Aryo Sudarsono, alias Aji. [...]
"We warned them to surrender but they didn't obey," said Bambang. "Since we knew there were dangerous people inside, we had to take strong action."
