Iran Confiscates Nobel Prize
(Tehran, Iran) The Nobel Prize medal and diploma awarded to human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi in 2003 has been confiscated by the Iranian government. The items were removed from Ebadi's safe deposit box.
Additionally, the Iranian government demanded payment of taxes on the $1.3.million Nobel award money even though it was exempt by law.
Norway has officially complained to Iran.
