(Jackson, Mississippi) Last week, a 30-year-old teacher at Chastain Middle School, Icree McGee, was arrested by Jackson Police officers after being found with a 13-year-old boy in a parked car at 1:15 AM. According to police spokesman Joseph Daughtry,
Originally, McGee tried to lie to the police officer while being questioned at the scene, Daughtry said.Jackson Public School officials declined to comment on how the episode will affect McGee's employment.
McGee is charged with false pretense and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both misdemeanors. According to the Jackson arrest docket, McGee is ordered to pay an undisclosed fine within 30 days of the arrest.
Daughtry said he does not know where or when the child got into the vehicle. "It is my understanding that the parents didn't know about it. That's where the contributing to the delinquency of a minor comes from," Daughtry said.
He said there was no indication McGee had inappropriate contact with the student.
