Woman Saves Koala

(Mount George, South Australia) A koala was saved earlier today when a woman opted to crash rather than run it over.

Police say the woman was driving east on the Princes Highway near Mount George just after midnight on Saturday when she swerved and struck a pylon holding up the Bridgewater Road overpass.

The 35-year-old woman from Mount Barker died at the scene.

A 36-year-old man and 11-year-old girl, also from Mount Barker, received minor injuries.

The protected koala was spared.
