Georgia Teacher Accused of Sex Assault of Boy

(Pickens County, Georgia) A 33-year-old physical science teacher at Pickens County High School, Laura Deane Lyles (aka Laura Dene Lyles), has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a male student. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office was alerted by school officials.

Lyles faces charges of two counts of sex assault, two counts of sodomy and four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The boy's age has not been released and there's reason to suspect that there are other victims.

According to Capt. Frank Reynolds of the sheriff's office, at least one sexual encounter occurred on school property.

Lyles was booked into custody and subsequently released Wednesday evening on $27,700 bond.
