(Le Center, Minnesota) In February 2010, a 34-year-old special education assistant with the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown District Middle School, Rachel Helen Stockwell, was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old female student.
Stockwell was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
The victim, who had an IQ equivalent of an 11-year-old, told investigators she had known Stockwell for several years, the criminal complaint said. The girl said they met at school when she was 12 or 13 years old.Stockwell was booked into custody at the Le Sueur County Jail with bond set at $35,000.
At some point, Stockwell started inviting the girl to her home. It was during two of those visits that the assaults allegedly occurred.
During one visit on Feb. 15, Rockwell allegedly kissed the girl on the cheek and left a mark, the complaint said.
On Feb. 17, during another visit, Stockwell allegedly kissed the girl’s breast.
In the latest development in the case, a plea deal is being worked and a settlement conference is scheduled for June 15.
