Syrian Army Has Diarrhea

(Damascus, Syria) All military exercises have reportedly been halted.

The Syrian opposition has asserted that President Bashar Assad ordered the suspension of military training.

Assad was said to have issued the order in mid-June 2010 amid an epidemic of diarrhea at army camps.

The diarrhea report hasn't been confirmed by the Syrian military. If true, however, one must suspect something more sinister than a bad meal. 600,000 troops with the runs would seriously impact military readiness.

Rumors have spread that Israel caused the epidemic but doctors blame food contamination linked to a heat wave.
