(Federated States of Micronesia) More than 90 people became ill and six died after eating hawksbill turtle meat at a feast on the island of Murilo last month.
Health officials declared the deaths resulted from chelonitoxism poisoning from biotoxins in turtle flesh.

Since the turtles eat jellyfish containing toxins, turtle flesh becomes saturated with toxins which are poisonous to humans with the most susceptible being children.
The hawksbill is classified as endangered.
