(Carrier Mills, Pennsylvania) Convicted child sex offender Shannon Burton, 40, is in trouble again. She violated the terms of her probation.
The probation had several conditions, including sex-offender training, registration with the state as a sex offender, a psychological evaluation and no use of social-networking Internet sites such as Myspace, Facebook or dating sites.Sentencing for the violation of probation is scheduled for August 25.
A petition charging violation of probation filed March 24 by Assistant States's Attorney Eva Walker contended Burton violated the judge's order by accessing the social networking Internet Internet site Plentyoffish.com under the username of "sashagail 1."
A profile posted on the Internet site included a description of Burton and photos, according to the petition filed by Walker.
Woman Gets Probation for Sex with Boy
[Previous 11/20/10 post]
(Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) In July 2009, a Carrier Mills woman, Shannon Burton, was charged with criminal sexual abuse for allegedly engaging in sex with a 13-year-old boy.
This week, 40-year-old Burton was sentenced by Judge Walden Morris to probation.
Her sentence also included mandatory sex-offender training, registration with the state as a sex offender, a psychological evaluation, no use of social-networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace and a prohibition against working where children are present, such as beaches, schools or day-care centers.[…]Burton apologized to the family of her victim.
Assistant State's Attorney Eva Walker argued for a minimum of three years in prison. Class 2 felonies are punishable by three to seven years in the Department of Corrections.
"All the family members (of the victim) want Shannon Burton to go to prison," Walker said.
Walker said there shouldn't be any difference in how male or female sex offenders are sentenced.
"But sometimes people don't see it as seriously when a woman perpetrates against a boy," Walker said.
