Texas Woman Gets Prison for Molesting Girl - Updated

(Lumberton, Texas) Last week in accordance with a plea agreement, 42-year-old Claudia Maria McDaniel pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

As a result, McDaniel was sentenced to three years in prison. Co-defendant Toby Langham awaits trial.
Hardin County District Attorney David Sheffield said McDaniel agreed to testify against co-defendant Toby Langham, 37, of Beaumont and provided a written statement, under oath, detailing Langham's culpability in the crime as part of the plea arrangement.[…]

"With the statement given by Claudia McDaniel, this puts us in a better position to prosecute Toby Langham," said Sheffield. "In developing this case, we worked with the victim and told her about our strategy in the prosecution. She agreed with the strategy.

"Now, instead of a she said, they said case, we now have a case where we have two witnesses who can testify against the person we think is most culpable in the matter."
If convicted, Langham faces possible 20-year and 10-year prison terms.
