(Silver Spring, Maryland) A 35-year-old first-grade teacher at Greencastle Elementary School, Susan Lee Burke, has been accused of choking nine students. Burke faces nine counts of second-degree assault for incidents allegedly occurring in December. The students reported being choked, kicked, punched, scratched or squeezed on the arms. Other students reported witnessing the assaults.
The alleged assaults reportedly occurred during school hours and on school grounds.
Burke was booked into custody. A bond amount hasn't been reported.
