Pennsylvania Teacher Gets Prison in Sex Case - Updated

(Brookville, Pennsylvania) Yesterday, 43-year-old teacher and coach formerly at Brookville High School, Karin Hetrick, was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison.
Hetrick told a Jefferson County judge who sentenced her Wednesday that she's undergoing counseling and hopes her renewed religious faith will bear fruit, saying
"God has disciplined me and brought me home again."

"I'm forgiven, and I need to be punished."
Meanwhile, the victim's mother has filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging the school system was negligent and ignored Hetrick's daily abuse of her child.

Pennsylvania Teacher Guilty in Sex Case
[Previous 2/10/11 post]
(Brookville, Pennsylvania) In March 2010, a math teacher and softball coach at Brookville High School, Karin Hetrick, was arrested for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old female student.

Hetrick allegedly started the relationship with text messages in November 2009 and later introduced sex.

On Monday of this week, 43-year-old Hetrick pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated indecent assault of the 15-year-old from November 2009 to March 2010. Judge John Foradora accepted the plea deal.

Sentencing will occur after a Megan's Law evaluation is performed to determine if Hetrick is a sexual predator. Hetrick faces a possible five to 10 years in prison on each conviction.
