(New Hope, Mississippi) A married mother-of-two and math teacher at New Hope High School, Katherine Robbins, has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly engaging in improper relations with a 17-year-old male student.
Robbins faces a felony charge of sexual battery.
According to one of her students, Robbins often flirted with male classmates, even to the point of giving them hugs and inappropriately touching them in other ways.Judge Jim Kitchens has scheduled a trial date of August 22.
Now that Robbins has been indicted, Lowndes County School District Superintendent Mike Halford said it was "pretty much a given" that she would be fired.
