(Tupelo, Mississippi) A 32-year-old English teacher formerly at Saltillo High School, Elizabeth Hope Johns-Pittman, has pleaded guilty to three counts of felony sexual battery stemming from a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student.
As a result, Johns-Pittman was sentenced by Judge John Roberts to four months in the county jail and five years of probation.
On Wednesday, she told the court she had sex with the 16-year old at her house during what were supposed to be tutoring sessions.Johns-Pittman was also ordered to perform 200 hours of public service and write an essay.
The victim's family asked the court to give Johns-Pittman probation because they wanted to bring closure to the matter.
