Teacher Allegedly Drunk at School

(Loudoun County, Virginia) A 43-year-old 4th-grade teacher at Creighton’s Corner Elementary School in Ashburn, Laura Ann Collins, has been arrested for allegedly being drunk in public.

All students brought home a letter alerting their parents of Collins' arrest Thusday.

School officials say they tried to use the incident to teach students a life lesson, and maintain Collins was not in front of students at the time.

“Student safety was never compromised,” said Loudoun schools spokesperson Wayde Bayard.

Collins has been put on paid leave pending the investigation. Results from a breathalyzer test given to Collins are not yet available.

Collins was booked and released on her own recognizance. A court appearance is scheduled for July 17th.
