(Battle Creek, Michigan) April Patzkowsky, 32, pleaded no contest today to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution. Other charges were dropped. Sentencing is scheduled for October 31.

(Calhoun County, Michigan) Earlier today, former Battle Creek teacher's aide April Patzkowsky waived her preliminary examination on five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and she will now go to trial.

She faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Patzkowsky is charged with having sex with a 14-year-old boy last summer at a home in Emmett Township.

Investigators said she was a teacher's aide at W.K. Kellogg Middle School where the boy was a student.

Police said the relationship continued over several months.

The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety began its investigation last year and Patzkowsky subsequently moved to Brownsville, Texas.

Patzkowsky is in custody at the Calhoun County Jail with bond set at $150,000.

Teacher's Aide Accused of Sex Assault

(Emmett Township, Michigan) A 32-year-old teacher's aide formerly at Kellogg Middle School, April Patzkowsky, has been accused of sexually assaulting a middle school student.

Patzkowsky was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Brownsville TX. It's not clear whether she was fleeing or just moving her domicile.

Emmett Township Detective Seth Graves says the child involved was a student in the class she helped.

W.K. Kellogg is in downtown Battle Creek, but the alleged incidents happened in Emmett Township.

Det. Graves says he doesn't believe that more than one child was involved.

Patzkowsky awaits extradition in the Cameron County (TX) Jail.
