China is currently in debate about the morality of eating cat meat, a tradition for some, and a vile practice for others.

Regional paper Nanfang Daily reported an estimated 4 million cats are eaten in the country a year, and the number may be rising due to economic hardships.

Cat consumption helps decrease the stray cat problem.
