Tennessee Woman Gets No Jail in Rape Case

(Blountville, Tennessee) Last Thursday, 22-year-old Rebecca E. Fields pleaded guilty and was sentenced for statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy in December 2010.

She was given two years of judicial diversion, during which time she will be on supervised probation and must participate in recommended sex offender treatment.

According to Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Julie Canter, Fields told police she met the victim, who was 15, in a bar. Fields alleged he told her he was 16 and claimed she did not know it was illegal to have sex with him.

Fields has also been ordered to have no contact with her victim.
