Subway Rape Case

(New York City) A 29-year-old career criminal, Michael Torres, has been arrested for allegedly throwing a woman, 36, from a subway platform at Bowery and Delancy streets, dragging her into a tunnel and raping her.

The incident reportedly occurred just after midnight last Wednesday.
Cops say the woman was on the platform when Torres pushed her onto the tracks before dragging her into the tunnel. Threatening her with a screwdriver, he told her to be quiet as he proceeded to rape, sodomize and beat her.

Sources say the woman screamed when she saw the light from an M.T.A. employee and the creep ran.

That M.T.A. worker may have saved the woman's life. She was taken to Bellvue Hospital for treatment.
Torres was identified in a surveillance tape and booked on charges of assault, criminal sex act, reckless endangerment and possession of a weapon.
