AZ Mom Accused of Trying to Kill Her Son

(Sahuarita, Arizona) A 30-year-old local woman, Corina Rodriguez, has been accused of attempting to drown her seven-year-old son in the bathtub.

Rodriguez faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Police say she was living on and off with her parents at a home on the 300 block of Rock Station Drive. After a series of domestic disputes involving Rodriguez, Child Protective Services began investigating the family in early March.

"CPS had gone to talk to the seven-year-old about the situation occurring in the house and that's when he said he had been almost drowned by his mother in the bathtub," Sam Almodova of the Sahuarita Police Department says.

Rodriguez was booked into custody at the Pima County Jail.
