Illinois Teacher Accused of Sex Assault/Kidnapping

(Cicero, Illinois) A 29-year-old teacher formerly at Acacia Academy in LaGrange Highlands, Laureth "Laurie" May, has been accused of kidnapping and sexual assault for skipping town and engaging in sex with a 17-year-old former female student.

Family and friends say her erratic behavior of late was out of character. Her fiance claims she was suffering from post-partum depression.

May was found with her three sons and former student, Destiny Gruba, 17, in Florida on March 20.

Upon alleged evidence of sexual misconduct with a minor, Cicero Police charged May, 29, with kidnapping and sexual assault. Police claim that they have May’s confession that her and Gruba were in a sexual relationship.

May was booked into custody with bond set at $500,000.
