Obama Daughter on Spring Break in Mexico

(Oaxaca, Mexico) According to this report, 13-year-old Malia Ann Obama, unescorted by her parents, is participating in "Spring Break" at a downtown Oaxaca hotel with 12 friends and 25 Secret Service agents.

Given the conventional understanding of what "Spring Break" entails, I suggest the name of a 13-year-old girl and the words "spring break" should not appear in the same sentence.

In any event, the U.S. State Department has issued a Travel Warning for Mexico. Risk varies significantly from region to region with U.S. government employees and their families prohibited from even traveling to some areas.

Although Malia Obama is reportedly visiting a lower-risk Mexican destination, I would question the parental wisdom of allowing her to travel to any place tagged with a State Dept. Warning.

Also, since she is the daughter of the President of the United States, I believe any location visited automatically becomes exceedingly high risk. Inestimable danger lurks.
