Student Allegedly Drowns in Bathtub

(Knoxville, Tennessee) A 22-year-old University of Tennessee coed, Sydney Sloan, was found dead yesterday at her off-campus apartment.

She reportedly drowned in the bathtub.

Officers with the Knox Co. Sheriff's Office responded to Sloan's apartment at the Retreat, a housing complex off of Cherokee Trail, shortly before 1:00 p.m. after her roommate found her unresponsive in a bathtub. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sloan, who was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, was originally from Brentwood, Tennessee where she attended Ravenwood High School.

An autopsy is planned.
