(Onawa, Iowa) A 43-year-old teacher at Central Elementary School, Karen Bartelson, has been accused of of possessing marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In Monona County Court, Bartelson pleaded not guilty.
In late July the Monona County Sheriff’s Office arrested the 43-year-old. She posted $1,000 bond on July 23.A court appearance is scheduled for August 20.
The West Monona Community School District website lists Bartelson as a teacher at Central Elementary School. District Superintendent Lyle Schwartz said Tuesday that Bartelson is on administrative leave. He would not comment further.
