(New Orleans, Louisiana) In February 2012, a 22-year-old gay Peruvian national, Luís Armando Mendoza Sanchez, was arrested and jailed for illegally entering the United States.
Mendoza Sanchez allegedly left Peru to escape anti-homosexual persecution.
Advocates and family members of a gay undocumented Peruvian immigrant who remains in a Louisiana detention center maintain he has not received proper treatment for the post-traumatic stress disorder that stems from the anti-gay discrimination and violence they say he suffered in his homeland.According to a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Mendoza Sanchez has been checked mentally and physically and he is fine.
In any event, some people believe that illegal aliens in the U.S. should receive treatment for medical infirmities they brought with them when sneaking into the U.S.
