Tennessee Woman Guilty of Theft

(Dyersburg, Tennessee) A 44-year-old local woman, Tina Woods Butler, has pleaded guilty to 16 felony counts of theft.

Last week in Dyer County Circuit Court Butler entered a best interest plea of guilty to six counts of theft over $1,000 and 10 counts of theft over $500.

Butler reportedly took money from clients of her insurance company and deposited the money into her bank account while not providing them with coverage.
Butler was arrested in February 2012 after a Dyer County Grand Jury returned a secret indictment on her for money laundering, theft over $1,000 (six counts), and theft over $500 (10 counts).

In April 2009, over a year before the police investigation began, the Insurance Division of the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance revoked Butler's insurance provider license after numerous complaints were filed with the department citing her failure to provide insurance despite paying for coverage.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 30.
