Illinois Teacher Accused of Theft

(Barrington, Illinois) A report from earlier this month (11/14).
Former Barrington High School Fine Arts Department Chairwoman Julie Salk was arrested on theft charges Tuesday.

Barrington Police charged Salk with one count of theft over $500.

Police say she stole $5,022 in theater and raffle ticket revenue from a "Hello Dolly!" production in March 2012. In the 2010-2011 school year, the Illinois State Board of Education reported Salk's salary as $142,024.27.

Her initial court date will be held later today, at 1:30 p.m. at the Babcox Justice Center in Waukegan.
Salk retired last June after being placed on administrative leave.

Frankly, I find it incomprehensible that someone would jeopardize a $140K+ job for a mere 5K.

Other suspicious financial activity is still being investigated and when it is all said and done it was more than the 5k and with that women's moral compass it probably wasn't even about the need for the money it's the want for it in a rich neighborhood and merely the fact that she could and no one would stop her, we had to change the rules two years ago because of a slightly off audit in her department not to mention a litany of other abuses. This is karma.
