Wyoming Woman Gets Prison in Boy Sex Case - Update

A light presentencing recommendation did little to affect the end result for Britney Rosenfield.

Rosenfield, 25, had already pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old boy in February, and had agreed to accept the state’s sentence cap of six to 14 years in prison.

At her sentencing hearing Wednesday morning, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Stensaas said although the presentencing investigation writer had recommended probation for Rosenfield, Stensaas still believed the previously agreed-upon sentence was appropriate.

Stensaas indicated that a double standard appeared to be in play because of Rosenfield’s gender.

“I have yet to see a recommendation like this where a male is the perpetrator,” he said. Stensaas additionally noted that the sexual intercourse had been occurring since the boy was 12.

Offered a chance to speak, Rosenfield wept and said, "I’m just, really sorry."

A Casper woman accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy changed her plea to guilty Wednesday at Natrona County District Court.

Britney Rosenfield and the state reached a plea agreement in which the state would drop one charge of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. Rosenfield pleaded guilty to the remaining charge of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

The agreement also ensured Rosenfield's sentence would be capped at six to 14 years.

A sentencing date awaits scheduling.

(Casper, Wyoming) A 25-year-old local woman, Britney Rosenfield, has been accused of illegal jiggy-jiggy with a 13-year-old boy.

Rosenfield faces one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Rosenfield reported to Casper police that she had been engaging in sexual intercourse with the boy since August. She was accompanied by her husband and mother as she filed the report.

Rosenfield reportedly told officers she had sex with the boy about five or six times at her residence.

The boy elaborated on the encounters through an interview with the Child Advocacy Project, according to court documents. He said the incidents occurred in several rooms of Rosenfield’s house, including the living room, the defendant’s bedroom and the laundry room.

Rosenfield was booked into custody with bond set at $50,000.
