Illinois Teacher Sentenced for Student Sex - Update
(Peoria, Illinois) Former art teacher at Manual Academy Amanda M. Ludwig has pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse for engaging in "sexual conduct" with a 15-year-old student.
Consequently, Ludwig was sentenced yesterday to five years in prison. Ludwig's attorney stated that pending federal charges will likely be dismissed.
School officials learned about the matter when another student told district police officers that the 15-year-old boy had bragged about having sex with Ludwig and showed a video on his cellphone.Ludwig remains free on bond pending a determination on the federal charges against her.
When questioned, Ludwig allegedly admitted to "sexting" the boy and then having sex with him.

(Peoria, Illinois) A 28-year-old art teacher at Manual Academy, Amanda M. Ludwig, has been accused of sending text messages to entice a 15-year-old male student to engage in sex.
Ludwig faces a federal charge of enticing a minor for sex.
District 150 school resource officers and Peoria police conducted a joint investigation after school officials received a tip Friday during the school day.Ludwig was booked into custody at the Peoria County Jail. A court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow.
“We commend our school resource officers and administrators for the professional and immediate approach in which they have handled this investigation,” District 150 Superintendent Grenita Lathan said in a news release Saturday.
