Woman Collared at Border for Smuggling

(Nogales, Arizona) A 37-year-old California woman, Maria Veronica Martinez, was arrested this week for attempting to smuggle drugs through the Dennis DeConcini Port.
Customs and Border Protection officers selected Maria Veronica Martinez of Fresno for an additional inspection of her Dodge sedan when she attempted to enter the United States on Monday.

After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs, an officer found a single package with approximately eight pounds of methamphetamine wrapped around the woman's midsection.
Martinez is in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

I don't understad this, the USA is loaded with meth labs. There was no need to bring it into the USA.
