Kentucky Couple Charged in Rape Case

(Laurel County, Kentucky) A 35-year-old local woman, Joyce Blanton, has been arrested for complicity to commit rape for allowing her live-in boyfriend, Franklin Brown, to impregnate a 13-year-old girl living in the same home.

Brown, 45, has been arrested on three counts of first-degree rape.

According to Laurel County Sheriff's Office spokesman Gilbert Acciardo, an anonymous complaint prompted an investigation regarding a 13-year-old being pregnant.

Investigators determined that a 14-year-old, mildly mentally disabled girl, was 71/2 months pregnant.

The girl has been removed from the home by Cabinet for Health and Family Services and was placed in the custody of a relative.

Blanton and Brown were booked into custody at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
