SoCal Teacher Gets Jail for Sex, Having Baby with Student - Update

A former teacher’s aide at a special needs school in San Dimas was sentenced to jail time Monday after pleading guilty to having sex and a baby with a teenage student, according to court officials.

Mandy Morales, who worked at Canyon View School, was given a year in jail and three years’ probation, and ordered to attend sex offender counseling and parenting classes, a clerk at the Pomona Courthouse told NBC4.

A felony complaint for an arrest warrant had accused Morales, now 31, of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under age 16 between Oct. 1, 2011, and July 5, 2012.

(Los Angeles County, California) A 31-year-old teacher's aide at Canyon View School, Mandy Morales, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 16-year-old male student and birthing a child fathered by him.

Morales faces a charge of sex with a minor.
The case began when Morales’ journal, which detailed an ongoing relationship with the victim, was found at the Canyon View School, the department said. Morales has been placed on administrative leave.

The private K-12 school, a part of the McKinley Children’s Center, provides special education services to students ages 5 to 22, according to the center’s website.
Morales was booked into custody and released on $50,000 bond.
