Facebook Blamed for Break-Ins

(Vienna, Austria) A report from Europe describes the risk of revealing personal information on Facebook.
Police are warning people in Austria that burglars are increasingly using social networks to track when people are away on holiday.

Burglars use Facebook posts to determine when houses will be empty.

Police also warn that people posting pictures of their homes and possessions gives burglar an insight into what they can steal whilst you are away and lets them know whether it is worth breaking in.

Vienna Police Spokesperson Roman Hahslinger said: "The number of break ins due to status updates and holiday photos online is increasing significantly. Many thieves when caught and questioned admit them got the information from Facebook."
Although this report comes from Europe, the danger of revealing too much personal information on Facebook is arguably a concern worldwide.
