Carolina Jailer Accused of Smuggling Contraband to Inmates

(North Charleston, South Carolina) A 33-year-old Charleston County Jail Officer, Venetia D. White, has been accused of providing contraband to inmates.

White faces counts of misconduct in office and furnishing contraband to a prisoner. According to Sheriff Al Cannon:
… authorities started investigating last week after a cellphone was found in a cell.

In one month's time, Cannon says White gave inmates the phone, as well as lighters, electrical tape and mini-bottles of alcohol.
Details on arrest and booking are unavailable.
