(Pascagoula, Mississippi) A 23-year-old local mom, Erica Folmer, has been accused of physically assaulting her three-month-old daughter, resulting in critical injuries.
Folmer faces a charge of aggravated child abuse.
Pascagoula police launched an investigation Saturday after receiving a report from Singing River Hospital's emergency room about an infant brought to them for treatment who had suffered injuries consistent with physical abuse. The infant's grandmother had apparently brought the child to the hospital for treatment, Pascagoula police Sgt. Calvin Hutchins said.Folmer was booked into custody with bond set at $1 million.
Police later determined the infant's mother, Erica Folmer, 23, of Pascagoula, was responsible for the injuries. She did not go to the hospital with the infant. Police went to Folmer's home and found her sitting in a car outside of her Pascagoula apartment complex. She was taken into custody without incident, Hutchins said.
