Florida Mom Accused of Child Neglect

(Escambia County, Florida) A 29-year-old local mom, Shana Christina Beck, was arrested after RC Lipscomb Elementary School employees found cocaine in her daughter’s backpack.

Beck faces a charge of felony child neglect.
The principal of the school, Susan Sanders, told deputies as school was letting out a teacher told her one of her students had a small bag of white powder in her backpack.

The teacher said the student was crying when she showed her the baggie. The young girl told authorities Beck and a friend were in their car the night before when they dropped the bag of drugs and began frantically searching for it. The student said the baggie must have fallen into her open backpack.

Deputies say the white powder found inside field tested positive for cocaine.
Beck was booked and released on $2,500 bond.
