A former Appleton West High School teacher's aide has agreed to a plea deal for having a sexual relationship with a special education student.Sentencing is scheduled for February 17, 2015.
The deal, which consolidated charges from both Calumet and Outagamie counties, allowed 45-year-old Laura Bates to plead no contest to 3 counts of sexual assault of a student by a staff member. Four other similar charges were dropped.

(Appleton, Wisconsin) A 44-year-old teacher's aide formerly at Appleton West High School, Laura Bates, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 17-year-old male student.
Bates faces four counts of sex assault of a student by school staff.
According to court documents the victim was a student with a special ed classification in a class where Bates worked as a paraprofessional.The alleged crimes reportedly occurred on school property.
Bates has been charged with four counts of sex assault of a student by school staff. Each count carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a 10 thousand dollar fine.
The charges were filed Tuesday but Bates was arrested at the school on Monday and booked into the Calumet County Jail where she remains.
