Arizona Woman Accused of Injecting Fecal Matter into Husband

(Chandler, Arizona) A 65-year-old local registered nurse, Rosemary Vogel, has been accused of injecting fecal matter into her husband's IV while he was recovering from surgery.

Vogel faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Police said the 66-year-old man was in recovery following a surgical procedure at Chandler Regional Hospital on Thursday and his wife was in the room with him.

Hospital staff went to the room after the warning alarm on the monitoring machines sounded and found Vogel manipulating her husband's IV, according to Sgt. Joe Favazzo. A nurse found that the IV had a brown substance in the line and immediately removed it from the man's arm.

Favazzo said Vogel attempted to drain the fluid from the line into a wastebasket, but the nurse intervened.

The substance was tested in the hospital's lab and was found to contain fecal matter.
Details on arrest are unavailable.
