Delaware Wife Accused of Poisoning Husband
(Smyrna, Delaware) A 44-year-old local woman, Jamie L. Baker, has been accused of killing her husband by poisoning him with antifreeze.
Baker faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
Police said that on Thursday, Jamie L. Baker was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation that got under way on Sept. 16, 2013, when troopers and medical personnel were called to a home the 2000 block of Bryn Zion Road for a death investigation.Baker was booked into custody at the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution without bail.
Investigators said that when troopers arrived on the scene, the body of Jamie Baker's husband, James D. Baker II, was found in a bedroom. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded to the home to transport James Baker's body to their office in order to conduct an autopsy.[…]
Police said an autopsy was performed on James Baker and it was discovered that his kidneys had a substance suspected to be ethylene glycol, which is a chemical found in anti-freeze….The medical examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide by poisoning.
