Delaware Wife Accused of Poisoning Husband

(Smyrna, Delaware) A 44-year-old local woman, Jamie L. Baker, has been accused of killing her husband by poisoning him with antifreeze.

Baker faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
Police said that on Thursday, Jamie L. Baker was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation that got under way on Sept. 16, 2013, when troopers and medical personnel were called to a home the 2000 block of Bryn Zion Road for a death investigation.

Investigators said that when troopers arrived on the scene, the body of Jamie Baker's husband, James D. Baker II, was found in a bedroom. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded to the home to transport James Baker's body to their office in order to conduct an autopsy.[…]

Police said an autopsy was performed on James Baker and it was discovered that his kidneys had a substance suspected to be ethylene glycol, which is a chemical found in anti-freeze….The medical examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide by poisoning.
Baker was booked into custody at the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution without bail.
