Florida Woman Gets 25 Years Prison for Child Sex

(Sarasota County, Florida) A 29-year-old local woman, Tamisha Barbour, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison of sexually molesting a 10-year-old boy.

Barbour was convicted of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child less than 12 years of age.

Barbour, who was friends with the victim's mother, was staying in their home when the sexual abuse occurred last spring.

The boy testified at trial that Barbour grabbed his genitals and he told her to stop. Three other alleged victims also took the stand, Assistant State Attorney Andrea McHugh, who prosecuted the case, said.

Barbour entered a plea to four other second-degree felonies relating to abuse of the other victims. For those charges, she was sentenced to 15 years each, which will be served simultaneously to the 25-year term, McHugh said.

Barbour faces lifetime probation after release from prison.
