Georgia Teacher Allegedly Naughty with Student

(Burke County, Georgia) A 37-year-old teacher, formerly a Teacher of the Year award winner, Debra Tanskley (aka Tanksley), has been accused of fixing grades for a student and engaging in inappropriate contact with a student at Burke County High School.

Tanskley faces counts of attempted sexual assault and furnishing obscene material to minors.
"During the course of that [previous] investigation, it was determined that some contact had been made between the teacher and the student at the high school," said Sgt. Dedric Smith with the Burke County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Smith says that contact between Tanksley and the student was text messages and pictures, but he couldn't go into detail about the types of pictures sent.

Burke County Schools sent a statement that reads in part "Inappropriate communication between a second Burke County High School teacher and a Burke County High School student have been brought to the attention of School Superintendent, Mr. Rudy Falana. These findings arose during an ongoing investigation last week that led to the arrest of another BCHS teacher."
Details on arrest are unavailable.
